This goes along with the 18 month progression, but I decided to make it it's own post. The girls are really starting to throw out a ton of words, just in the last week or so. Valentina a little more so than Angelina, but that doesn't surprise me. She even as a baby was very into watching and listening and mimicking. She was the first to babble, where Angelina was more into watching things go on around her and figuring out ways to do those physical things. So I have found Angelina picking up even MORE signs in the last few weeks for colors and different animals she has never done before than focusing on the talking. They still amaze me how different they are. So this is what we have for toddler slang so far, and I'm figuring out more by the day as they continue to explore this world!
These are in no particular order and are usually accompanied by the sign, so that is how I have figured out most of what they are attempting to say! They do also say alot more than this but are pretty clear with those other words, Dada, hi, bye, etc.
babbit - rabbit
(Valentina)
ights - lights
(Valentina)
ow-die - outside
(both)
ah-da or ah-ga - all done or all gone
(both)
gawk - sock, rock, walk....it's all situational on that one! :)
(both)
at - hat, cat
(both)
ot - hot
(Valentina)
booooo - blue
(Valentina, we have lots of blue Christmas lights and I was surprised to see Valentina doing the sign and saying this both together, I had never seen her do the sign but knew exactly what she was saying/doing as she looked at all the lights in awe!!!)
Ba-Pa - grandma or grandpa.....or any person with grey hair for that matter!
(both)
bye-pa - diaper
(both)
di-ta - sister
(both)
besssss - bless you, after someone sneezes
(Valentina)
cheesh - cheese
(both)
peas - please
(both)
shoesh - shoes
(both)
ba-dada - banana
(Valentina)
ba-lala - banana
(Angelina)
ga-cka - cracker
(both, and usually accompanied with a 'peas' - please)
AND the best for last!!!!!!!
I-stah - LESTER!!!!!!!
(Valentina)
I have sooooo been wondering what the girls were going to first call Lester, it is a very difficult name as far as the letter combinations so I wasn't sure if they were going to shorten it to La-La, or Ester, or just go with the word brother!!!! So there we have it, my first addition of the Girl's Toddler Slang! And much more to come, I'm sure!
