Nebraska Trip

Last week the girls and I made a trip to Lincoln, Nebraska so they could have the chance to meet their Great-Grandma Beth who is going to 90 in February! I was very anxious leading up to it with having to travel with them by myself and it being thier first time on a plane. Here is how the trip played out!

Here they are, all set to go! Car seats, car seat bases, stroller, 2 bags FULL of goodies! An airport worker said to me as we were rolling to our gate, "WOW, that is the SUV of strollers!!!" Boy, he wasn't kidding!

Where are Joe and Lester????? Can you see them???

Look at the middle light pole, see the little speck of bright green? That's them on the top of the parking garage watching the planes take off and land after saying a tearful goodbye to us. I could see them from inside the terminal.

Here is a close up of them!

The girls and I on the plane! Here we go!

Valentina showing off her sweet book balancing skills! One of the many pass times on the 2 1/2 hour flight. The girls were great fliers!

Once in Nebraska, we stayed with my Uncle Tom and Aunt Urs, A BIG THANK YOU to them for letting us take over their house for a few days!

There were lots of new toys to check out, and that crazy Aunt Urs has this 'hair dryer' thing!!!! :)

Grandma Corky and Angelina peaking out the window at.......the squirrels!!!!! The girls thought the squirrels were the funniest! They would shriek and giggle, we need to get some of those so said squirrels in AZ!
After exploring Auntie Urs's the first morning, we headed over for a family get together with some family that I haven't seen in 6 and 8 years!!! It was soooooo good to see everyone and for everyone to meet the girls!

Valentina hanging with 'Ba-Pa', this is what the girls have started calling Grandma and Grandpa, and anyone with gray hair for that matter!!!! And also hangin' with Uncle Andy!

Valentina still hangin' with uncle Andy and meeting some second cousins and the newest of the 10 great-grandchildren. The girls would do their 'baby' sign every time they saw her!
Angelina chillin' with Auntie Urs and Auntie Jean and playing some cards!

And a big group shot of all the Great-Grandchildren. Lester was the only one not able to be there.

The following day, it was off to see Grandma Beth. The girls were a little timid at first, and it probably didn't help that is was about nap time.
Angelina was the first to warm up.

This is one of my absolute favorites.....priceless!

And this one too, leaning in for a kiss! :)

She even got brave enough after lunch to reach for Grandma and sit in her lap for a second!

And she even thought Grandma was pretty funny!!!! Now for those of you who know Angelina, Ms. Serious, to capture her smiling like this in the middle of a giggle......is un-heard of!!!!!!!
LOVE this one too!

Valentina was content with checking out Grandma from afar the first day. We took a walk around the facility where she lives, and EVERYONE was soooooooo interested in the girls!
And the girls were very interested in everyone too, peaking through the windows at all the different faces!

And a group shot of all of us, can you tell the girls were done for the day and ready for a nap?!

I will cherish this picture forever!

Outside Grandma's facility we had to make a quick stop for a snow opportunity.

The girls didn't quite know what to make of it. This weird stuff that crumbled in your hands and was cold!!!!!!!!

They also had a blast with all of the leaves.....hmmmm, imagine that.....a place that has a real 'fall' season! All of our trees in AZ still have leaves on them!

Grandma and Grandpa had fun too!

The second day we went to go visit Grandma Beth, Valentina warmed up much faster! I love her playing patty cake with Grandma here! She even leaned in for a few kisses at one point!

So sweet! :)

And Angelina was sharing food with Grandma! Mmmmmmm, Runza!!!! I ate it twice while we were there!

And finally, looking out the Omaha airport window before boarding our plane back home.
Did I mention the girls were great fliers???? They fell asleep on the plane ride home. Good girls!
This trip was way over due and it turned out to be a great trip! It was awesome to see all of the family that we did! Thanks to everyone who made this trip possible and to everyone else who traveled a few hours or more to make it for the family get together!

Oh! I'm so glad you posted all these pictures! Looks like the girls did GREAT! LOVE the photos at the nursing home - so, so precious.

p.s. You are SuperMom, Jill. Can't believe how gracefully you pull off these huge undertakings!
