Baby Conversations

This while sitting in the Dr.'s office for our first appointment.  We had told Lester about the baby that day so he wouldn't be wondering why we were at mommy's baby doctor but the girls did not know about the new baby on her way yet......

baby crying in the waiting room......
Joe: I don't like babies. (with a joking grin on his face while looking at me)
Angelina:  Yea, I don't like babies either!
Joe under his breath:  They suck.
Angelina under her breath: Yea, they suck.
Me rolling my eyes....
Lester giggling to himself.....

After the girls know about the baby.....

Lester:  I'm going to teach the baby how to walk and talk and do trains and legos.
Angelina: I'm going to teach the baby how to eat, and chew wif her mouf cwosed, and ask for chips!
Valentina:  I'm going to teach the baby how to walk and talk and play nicely, and ask pwease and thank you and I'm going to be a good big sister!  I will dwive her to the zoo.

Mommy and Daddy: Do you think the baby is going to be a girl or a boy?
Lester:  I hope it's a boy.
Angelina: I think a boy.
Valentina: A boy.

Valentina: How come the baby not coming out yet?
Me: Because she has to grow and get bigger in mommy's tummy before she can come out.  It's going to take a long time for her to be ready to be born.
Valentina:  A long time?
Me: Yes, months and months, after Grandma Liz's birthday, after Lester's birthday, after mommy's birthday, and maybe even after your's and Angelina's birthday.  Then she might be ready to come out!
Valentina: I think she is ready now.
:)

Lester: Boy Mom, your tummy sure is getting BIIIIIG!
Angelina: I think the baby's going to POP out!
Valentina: No, then mommy's tummy would rip and be very ouchy!
Lester:  No, no, no!  They will have to cut mommy's tummy to get the baby out.
Much more conversation has followed after this comment from Lester.  The girls are very concerned about the baby being CUT OUT of mommy's tummy.  How do you explain child birth to 3 year olds, and an almost 7 year old for crying out loud????!!!!  Now if I had c-sections than that's another story, the baby sure would be cut out!!!

Lester: So, how does a baby just get in mommy's tummy?  I mean, how is it just there all of a sudden?
.......silence from Joe and I!!!!!!  (this kid is way too smart for all of this!)
Joe:  That's a good question, Lester.  It's kind of like the question about what comes first, the chicken or the egg!
Me hanging my head and rolling my eyes

Me taking my vitamins.....

Valentina:  What are you doing?
Me:  Taking my vitamins, they are good for the baby.
Valentina:  Oh, the baby needs vitamins?
Me:  Yep!
Valentina:  So they will make her big and stwong and hewfy?
Me:  Yep, that's right! :)

There have been LOTS of tummy hugs and tickling and kisses going on from all 3 kids.  They also love to comment on how big my tummy is getting!
