Our Charlie Brown Christmas Tree

We really like to get potted Christmas trees so we can plant them in the back yard after the start of the new year.

New Life for a New Year. We started this on Lester's first Christmas.

Here is a picture from January '07, planting our Christmas tree. Lester was 7 months old and about as tall as the tree. This tree is now AT LEAST 15 feet tall! It is amazing!

So this year we wanted to continue the tradition. We were a little delayed in getting a Christmas tree this year, so by the time we got around to it, all of the actual planted Christmas trees were gone, except for the REALLY small ones. So as we were going from store to store to store trying to find something, we came across these potted pine trees, very Charlie Brown esc if you ask me. So we threw out the idea of getting a Charlie Brown Christmas Tree to the kids. Lester bit on it immediately because he loves the movie and we also have the book. So that was that!

This tree needed him! :)

The girls didn't know what was really going on, so they were fine with it!

As we put on one string of blue lights, it became the PERFECT tree! Lester was so excited and kept saying, "This is the best Christmas tree EVER!" We had found the HUGEST ornament ever and decided it was just too funny and perfect for our Charlie Brown Christmas tree, so on it went after the lights!

Then came the kids' yearly onrnaments that they get to pick out. This year, the Chipmunks!

Lester got Alvin!

Angelina got Janette.

And Valentina got Elenore.

Grandma Liz helped with a few more red ball ornaments.

And Joe topped it off with our traditional 'Nana Angel' ornament. In memory of his Grandmother Nana, she is our Angel watching over us!

Then we followed up our tree decorating with Lester reading the story that inspired our tree!

A Charlie Brown Christmas!
