Lester was invited to an ice skating birthday party over the weekend and he was soooooooo excited to try skating for the first time! I had Jungle Jill's so I was not able to go.....I was totally bummed, I wanted to skate and I wanted to be there for his first time on the ice and to be able to be there to help him if need be. But since I couldn't go, Joe took him and I told him he HAD to take video so I could see Lester on the ice. This was an adventure, because Joe had never ice skated before either!!!!!! He was pretty nervous about having to help Lester while trying to figure it out for himself at the same time. I am soooooooo proud of both of them!!!!! These are a few videos Joe managed to take towards the end of the open skate. They are taken with his camera phone so they are a little grainy and a little shaky, but I just had to post them because they both did so great!
I can't believe how fast he is going in this video! It is so amazing to me that in a few hours he went from not even being able to stand up and hold his skates underneath him, to this!!!! I can't wait to go with him and get him away from the rail!!!! He is totally ready to be out in the open not holding on to anything, he just needs to get his confidence up! Note....the video ends abruptly, yeah, that was one of Joe's falls, but only to his knees he said! Thank goodness for being close to the rail! :)
This is a shorter one but shows how good he is actually doing when he's not hugging the rail!
I am so proud of my boys! They did so great! They both want to go back from more and I love it! Being a former Minnesotan and spending hours upon hours down at that the park ice skating rink growing up and playing hockey in high school, I am ecstatic! I think we will check out a few more open skates and then consider doing some classes for Lester, he loved it so much! He just kept telling me over and over again how much fun he had! We may have a hockey player on our hands?????! Who knows, we'll see!
