Labor Day Camp Trip - 2009

So we decided to go for a Labor Day weekend camp trip to test run the girls before our annual Quail Hunt camp trip that is in October. So we set off for Date Creek, which is just north of Wickenburg, our usual camp spot. It was......
Joe, Grandma Liz
Angelina, Valentina, & Adam
Me, & Lester......
all packed into our Excursion!
(Oh, and all 4 dogs of course!)
Just outside of Wickenburg, in Congress, our truck broke down! :( At first I was worried, but then realized that we were heading to spend a few days out in the desert anyway so we had evertyhing we needed! Jordan came to our rescue...he drove up and picked up Joe to bring him back into Wickenburg to get the truck parts he needed to fix it. Then he proceeded to bring me and the girls home, just in case it wasn't going to be a quick fix for Joe to do out in the middle of no where with all the wrong tools! So Joe, Grandma, Lester, Adam, and the two big dogs stayed over night and camped by the side of the road. Lester had a BLAST! (even without Mommy to sleep with!)

I think it helped that they were by a train track!!!!!! ;)
The following morning, I packed the girls and the two little dogs back up and took Grandma Liz's van back to the brake down site with some much needed tools for Joe. Later that afternoon, Joe had the truck fixed!!!!! Well....fixed enough for us to go a little further and camp FOR REAL for one night and get back to town the next day!

So that night......
the girls got to camp for the first time!!!! And they did great!
They slept in the camper with mommy.....without their swings! Yeah!!!!

Lester slept in the tent with Daddy, Adam, and Pearl (one of our big dogs)!

The next day Lester caught some much needed shade while on a hike with Daddy and Adam!

And even found a 'Dinosaur' bone while on that hike!
So the girls' first camp trip was a success and all in all it was a fun time...minus the headache of the truck for Joe!
