Minnesota Trip

At the beginning of April we took a family trip to Minnesota. We decided to make it a road trip due to air fare costs as well as me being close to my third trimester with the twins. So off we set, and 3 days later we finally made it to Grandma and Grandpa's house. Lester was a trooper considering it was a 30+ hour drive and he was sick with a cold and an upset stomach. Trust me, there was a lot of Thomas watching on the DVD player to pass the time! Along the trip we collected magnets, to keep track of all the states/places that Lester got to see. So all in all we ended up with 10 state magnets as well as 5 tourist place magnets. We had the chance to make it to the Minnesota Zoo which was a lot of fun! Lester got to see animals that we don't always see at our zoo here. AND the highlight of the zoo trip was taking the Monorail or 'sky train' as Lester reffered to it. He was sooooo excited! The driver even let him peak into the driver's car afterward so he could see the microphone and ALL the buttons, that just made his day!
Posing for a shot by the Minnesota Trail at the zoo with Grandma Corky and Grandma Liz (who by the way made the treck with us to the North country! How brave was she!!!!)

Lester had so much fun coloring Easter eggs at Grandma and Grandpa's!

Lester also had fun showing Grandpa how to build with his Lincoln Logs. And note, the 'destructions' HAD to be out of the box before any building could begin! Grandpa just wanted to start building, but Lester is a stickler for those instruction sheets!
The day before we left, it actually started to warm up a little bit so we decided to go for a canoe ride into the swamp behind Grandma and Grandpa's house.! This was Lester giving the canoe a trial run before we all piled in!

Then came the life vest!

Then came the exploration of a beaver lodge with Daddy that we found in the swamp!

And then some rowing with Grandma!
Lester just kept saying over and over again, "I like being in the boat on the water!"
On our way back to Arizona we headed over to South Dakota to do some site seeing. Our first stop was the badlands. Pretty neat! Lester liked all the prairie dog towns the best, he just giggled at them all running around and sticking their heads out of the ground.

Then Lester had fun hitting on the ladies at Wall Drug!!!! wink wink ;0

Lester on a Jack-a-lope at Wall Drug! (pardon the spelling on that!)

And a current family picture of us all at Wall Drug! hehe I just need another papoose in my other arm and we'll be all set!

Ok, so here is a current family photo of us at Mount Rushmore!

And of course, Lester as the 5th president on the mountain! This is my favorite picture of the whole trip! I just love the experession on his face!
From South Dakota to home was a pretty long drive but all in all we made it in one piece and we had a great time during our visit with Grandma and Grandpa in Minnesota!
